Your heroism and service is honored today, the 102nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace.

“Appreciation is a wonderful thing: It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well”. I just wanted to leave a reflection for my great great grandfather (raised my geat grandfather) and show my appreciation. His scarfice to the community will never go unnoticed by our family.

As a young child my grandfather Louis Tyus often spoke of Sheriff "DOC" Tyus, the man who raised him. We must have been impressed by the stories of Sheriff Doc as several of the grandchildren and one of the great grand children became police officers. In 1996, I was assisted by the Grady Co. Sheriff's Department in having his name placed on the Police Memorial to honor Sheriff Tyus and the Tyus Family.

I never new Sheriff Tyus but I carry a piece of him in my heart everyday. I hope that in my lifetime I can reflect an image of him. He will always be known as an honerable man and his spirit lives on through myself and the Tyus family.
