Reflections for Officer J. D. Tippit
Many have forgotten the bravery of this police officer who gave his life while doing his duty. Blessings on him and his family on the 48th anniversary of his sacrifice. His name shines brightly in the hall of heaven's heroes.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 48th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect.

I found a book that includes an audio CD of that historic day. The CD tracks include your last radio transmission and the citizen's transmission reporting you'd been shot. As a 14 year veteran of police dispatch, it is chilling, to say the least.
Rest easy knowing we've got it from here and you are not forgotten.

Dear J.D. ~
The 47th anniversary of that terrible day in our history -- it truly seems impossible that so many years could have passed. Those of us who remember do so in graphic and vivid detail, and the sadness that enveloped us on November 22, 1963, has never left us. Your family members are always in my thoughts and prayers; I know they will be so glad to finally see you once again! Your heavenly Thanksgiving must have been spectacular, and I know your Christmas will be even better --- Hallelujah!! Rest peacefully in God's presence, and be assured that you will never be forgotten.

Sir on this day November 23, 2009 i stop to remember you and what you gave four your country. Getting out with any suspect always causes a little edge for a officer, getting out with a man suspected in killing the President of the United States had to enhance that, there was no way you could know at that time if this was a Soviet hitman or just a evil person. You were sharpe to have spotted him especially with all the confusion going on at that time but you went right at him, to do the right thing. Now sir you are a part of history that can never be changed, Maybe one day all the facts will come out and if they were anyone else involved in this act they should face the justice for you and the President President Kennedy said in the past a saying that fits your scrrafice. Officer J.D. Tippit was a greatful man and a solem nation will be forever in his debt. Gog Bless Sir.

Officer Tippit,
A few years ago at a bluegrass concert an older lady was speaking to my father and in the conversation he mentioned his son was an officer.
The woman's eyes misted over and she reminded him to tell me he loved me.
That woman was your wife, and after all these years it is obvious she still misses you.
Thank you for your sacrifice. And next time you wife are together tell her thank you for reminding those of us following your path why it's worth the risk.

Dear Mrs. Tippit,
I was present during the candle light service at the National Police Memorial during May 2008. I was deeply moved by your presence at the memorial. I reflected on what courage it must have taken for you to come to D.C. for this event. What words can every express our appreciation to you for your continued support and love for all of America's Law Enforcement Officers! I personally have lost two close friends that were murdered in the line of duty; while I cannot begin to know what you experienced I understand this type of loss. This is my 29th year in Law Enforcement, I hope some day that I might have the opportunity to meet you in Washington D.C. to personnally thank you. I wish you much happiness, health and safety.

Dear Officer Tippit ~
I thought of you so many times during the month of November, and particularly on the 22nd, the 45th anniversary of your death on that dreadful day in Dallas. I hope your family is well and that time has softened the pain of your passing. I wish you a glorious Heavenly New Year! As I'm sure you know, we could use a little help down here right now; but we're praying that 2009 will be a better year for us all. Rest in peace, Sir; you will never be forgotten.
With love and appreciation,

Just read through the website established by the Tippit family. A very interesting story and thank you for sharing it and all of the photos too. J.D. was quite a man and came from a wonderful family. It was a tragic day for two American families and the nation. None of us will ever forget that day or the losses we all sustained. His "cop" instinct in curbing his squad and stopping to talk to Oswald as he was walking down the street really was the overriding factor in what could have been a profoundly different outcome as others have said.
