Reflections for Probation Supervisor Bjorn Thomas Svenson

Bjorn "Thomas" Svenson. of Line of Duty death!

I recruited Tom as he was getting ready to graduate from the University of South Floria in Tampa. Tom was originally from Sarasota County Fl. At that time we were staff of the FL Parole & Probation Commission. He was a very professional and hard worker who advanced rapidly in a rapidly growing agency. Tom had a young child , I had the honor to present his wife with scholarship funded by a Criminal Justice Professional that I was a member of. His name is on the wall in Washington DC along with other officer who were killed in the line of duty

Rest in peace, my great uncle. Your life was taken far too soon. I never had the honor of meeting you, as I was born many years after your death. Your memory still lives on through your family, and will continue to live on forever.

My friend and colleague, we worked the streets of Dade County, Florida. Unfortunately it took your demise for The Commission to realize that we too are LE and thus need to be armed. In your passing you helped increase our own safety and our ability to help protect Society. You did not die in vain Brother. REST IN PEACE. We will meet again where the need to protect will not be required.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 31rst anniversary year of your death. I am privilige to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
