Marshal Stingley:
In their old age, your sister, Rachel Olive Stingley (my great grandmother), and your sister, Martha Martitia Stingley, passed enough of your story to my very young father to keep your legend alive. It was an honor to make a pilgrimage to Salida to walk where you served and gave your life. Your sacrifice was not in vain. May God’s grace allow all who serve others His Presence and council.

Marshal Stingley:
Your sister, Rachel Olive Stingely, is my great grandmother, which makes you my great-great Uncle. Make that Great Great uncle. May I ever be as sacrificial as you were.

Rest in Peace, Marshal Stingley. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.

Marshall Stingley - You survived wounds were another salida officer was killed, only months earlier. That's some true grit, Sir. I can only hope that if ever I'm put to the real test, I'll possess just a fraction of your resolve. Two Fridays ago I stood in the State Assembly chambers when your name was one of the almost 250 read off during a vote regarding next month's Police Memorial Week. You are not forgotten. Thank you for your service to the people of Salida and the state of Colorado. May God grant you eternal rest and may his perpetual light shine upon you.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 116th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

Marshal Stingley,
Here, 123 years later, your memory is still honored and your name is remembered.
Rest in peace, Marshal. You will always be remembered as a hero.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003). Unfortunately, I had to add the name of another friend recently. Deputy Jeffery Hewitt, Buncombe County (NC) Sheriff’s Department, E.O.W. April 4, 2004.

I want to honor all of those who gave their life in the line of duty. Although your death was many many years ago, you are still a hero.

God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

...Gone, but never Forgotten....
