I am Patrolman Eugene Stinchcomb's granddaughter, Len Neitzel's sister. I never realized that it had been 60 years since my grandfather's death. My grandfather was a good man who cared for a very sick wife and a young daughter of 16 years old. The other 3 children were older and married with children. Our mom had to grow up quick to take care of her mother, their home, all while trying to finish high school. She lost out on a lot from her father walking her down the aisle to higher education.
Even though most of the grandchildren never got the chance to know our grandfather it is obvious by these posts that we all think and talk of him often, even to this day.
God Bless him for the people that he saved thoughout his service as a patrolman. I have a great deal of respect for law enforcement for they put their lives on the line for us every single day.
Love you granddad, I know we will know each other someday.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 60th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Eugene Stinchcomb was my grandfather. He was killed on my birthday. I don't remember alot about him except a time when we visited the stables where his horse was boarded and some distant memories but i was told that he was adedicated public servant who loved his job and his family.

Thanks for the remberance, he was my Grandfather who i never got to know.
He was a mounted patrolman ready to retire. The day he died he was on foot duty directing traffic, filling in for a police officer that called in sick. A bizzare fight on a metro bus caused the bus to stop at the stop light where he was working. He was called on to the bus and as he was sorting out the problem a passenger took his revolver and shot and killed him along with several other passengers. I was told he normally left his gun unstrapped because as a mounted patrolman riding on the horse, the revolver dug into his side. This bad habit contributed to his death.
He left behind a wife and four children. We all miss him may he rest in peace.
