Officer Stephenson, first seeing the beautiful reflections from your kids tells me you were also a veteran so thank you for your military service. Second, your unbelievably selfless actions that day are beyond heroic and the absolute true definition of heroism and duty before self. Please know that on this 54th “anniversary” of your untimely and heroic departure your sacrifice and memory will never, ever be forgotten. God Bless you, God Bless your family and rest peace always brave sir.

It has been hard to reflect as a daughter that has never met her father! However, I will say that not only am I grateful for a dad who would give his life to save another, but for all of the other BRAVE women and men who have also given their lives. I respect and love all officers who daily give their lives. May GOD continuously bless your service and families.

Love you and miss you daddy!

Hey Dad it's been 53 years since your passing and you are still LOVED. In memory of your passing I stick VERY CLOSELY to your Grandson Will Stephenson Jr. 16 yrs of age. You would be very proud of him. He is an Honor student in the 11th grade with a GPA of 3.7. Mom is still hanging in there and so is your daughter Renee who is now 53 years of age. She was born 23 days AFTER your passing. I'm 56 years old and doing very well. Actually we all are and you would be very proud of us. You also have to more grandsons by Renee , E.J, and Tamar ages 17 and 15. We love and miss you. Rest In Peace Dad and be assured that GOD has truly taken care of your family. Thank You Daddy.....................

Officer Stephenson, your Department has become a thing of the past but thanks to the day to day heroics of each and every Housing Authority Police Officer, it will never be forgotten. You sir, went well above and beyond and on a day off no less. It is the type of bravery and lack of self that you displayed that ever police officer, regardless of where he or she works, hopes to emulate. How tragic that you lost your life and though your family has more than enough reason to be proud, knowing you did save that woman is reason for your family, and all in law enforcement to hold you in high esteem.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

You are owed a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. In giving your own life, you saved another one, and you are truly a hero in my book. May God bless you and your family.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 46th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
