Reflections for Motorcycle Officer Hal Clovis Stephenson

I've always been proud of my Father and his service to our country in the Navy and to the City of Fort Worth as a FWPD motor officer. I was 2 and a half when he passed at age 35, so I don't have many memories of him. I was fortunate to speak with Tommy Tucker and other FWPD motor officers over the years who helped fill in gaps regarding "Steve's" work life. They all agreed that he had a friendly, easy-going demeanor, a natural leader and even motorists he ticketed never had a complaint. His Stephenson legacy lives on in his grandsons and granddaughter, and his impact on our lives will never be forgotten. Thank you for remembering him.

I have always been proud of my Uncle Hal. He was full of fun, taught me how to water ski on Lake Grapevine. Passed too early, I was only 11. Remember fondly crawling up on his white Harley electroglide solo seat in the garage when I visited. He is one of my heroes.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 45th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
