Your heroism and service is honored today, the 63rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Although we never met, I think of you brother every time I patrol the Cloudcroft/Wolford area. Wolford Lookout is one of my favorite areas to hunt, it is very beautiful and peaceful. Thank you Officer Speight.

Brother Speight,

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue
