Reflections for Police Officer Thomas Edward Shea

Officer Shea, it has been 84 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices you, your family, and many others have made for us. Thank you for your 8 years of law enforcement service.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 72nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Officer Shea, we all have the same gripe, when responding to calls with lights activated, so many people just don't pay attention and turn into us. It appears this happened to you. Though it's been 70 years, things haven't changed much. The emergency lights on the cars have gotten better but people are just as careless and stupid. That's tragic in itself.

Your services to the people of Wellesley and the Commonwealth as a whole have not been forgotten and I thank you for them.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

I was requested by my department to research the circumstances of Officer Shea's death; in doing so, it became my honor and privilege to have met Officer Shea's daughter-in-law and grandchildren. May Officer Thomas Shea rest in peace and may the information I provided to the Shea Family bring them some closure.
