Reflections for Trooper Craig A. Scott

Trooper Scott,
On today, the 40th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a LEO but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe during the Cold War as a member of the 1st Infantry Division-“The Big Red One.” And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

The memory of the heart never fades. You were the glue in my young life, the one who kept things in order, the one with high standards and expectations of family...of love. You are missed every morning I wake and every night the sun sets. It only takes a moment of powerful love and emotional understanding to influence an entire life. You did that.

Living in the shadow of your spirit...

I was just on the memorial highway to Trooper Scott. My dad was the sergeant in Bad Axe where Craig cubbed out of. I was very young, but remember him helping my dad install a sliding glass door at home and Craig dropping off Easter baskets for other trooper's kids, including myself. The memory is vivid of my dad leaving in his dress blues for the funeral ceremony.

How the past, present, and future continues to give me the reflection of how much your life mattered. How much it mattered to your family and family of blue. There is a sense of how much each one of us still grieve over losing you. Today we honor you by remembering the sacrifice of life you made to better our community. I love you and miss you dearly. Thirty nine years gone by and as my spirituality becomes closer, it is,,,,,,,Until we meet again.

My Love,
Although it is 38 years ago today, everyday is a reminder of you not here with me. The loss, the heartache never goes away. I reflect on how proud I am to see your highway memorial sign finally on display. Every year that goes by brings me closer to you and I wait. All my love, forever and always,,,,until we meet again eternally.

My love, you would have been 66 yesterday. I visited you and did so much reflection. Made a birthday wish and for your day, started the process for a new stone for the both of us. It actually made me feel better and spiritually closer to you. Another day gone by, another day closer to you. To my Hero indeed, Happy Heavenly Birthday. Until we meet again...

Uncle Craig,
Yesterday we finally got to do something that was long time coming.... you finally have a sign dedication to your service and sacrifice. It was a very hard, emotional day. Uncle Joel, jami, dad n I got to go see the memorials together in Lansing. Who knows when or if we will ever be there together again. It was nice to share that with them since dad and I are there every year. You are missed and loved but never forgotten. Thank you for your service. Rest in peace. Until I see you again.
I miss and love you....

The moments, the days, the months, the years continue to pass. I will never forget your love. The life lessons of structure, values, accountability, integrity and the importance taking pride in one's work are still an integral part of me. I know you are still near because I can hear you urging me to stay true and be strong. I will. I am.

The years have passed,
Reflections come and go.
You're still missed so terribly,
It's been 37 years,,,,,,,so long ago.

These anniversaries,,,,one year at a time,
Celebrations of your life, now memories of mine.

A forever reminder of your sacrifice, your service, your family of blue,
After 37 years my love, a memorial highway will be dedicated to you.

Until we meet again,,,,

Scotty I reflect on my years as a trooper every day and the time I remember the most is the time I partnered with you in Bad Axe. I was one year out of recruit school when I was assigned to work with you and I learned more with you then I ever did with my senior officer and we had a lot fun in the process. RIP my friend

I’m terribly sad what has happened to this family, and the heartbreak this has caused on all of them. I really wish they would reach out to me so we can catch up on so much lost time. I miss you all!

Each February 9th I remember...and I am at times in need of an extra moment and an extra breath to leave a reflection on this memorial site. I am here for you; I always will be. I can still remember you holding my hand to cross the street to the Michigan State Fair and watching the fireworks together in Detroit on the 4th of July. The bonds of love never die, and the memories live on.
