We rarely think of the USFS as a law enforcement agency. We often consider USFS staff as "rangers" and firefighters. The ANF has a contingent of law enforcement working out the SO and out of other SOs. These folks are frequently out on dangerous assignments without nearby backups. I think the best war to remember Ranger Schwoob and further his legacy is to say, "Hi" and "Thank you" to USFS Officers you encounter.

Although many, many years have gone by since your death, I was still angered when I read the circumstances of your death, and the outcome. That's when we have to leave matters in God's hands and all we can do now is wish for you heavenly, peaceful rest. Thank you for your sacrifice.
