Thank you all for remembering my grandfather. My father loved and worshipped his father and was with him in the ambulance when he died. Having just become a doctor, because of his father’s wishes, he felt hopeless to save his loving father. He attended the execution of all six inmates and never forgot his father’s heroic deeds. Years later I worked for SCDC for 28 years always thoughtful of my grandfather and father, who worded as a CO while in college to help pay for school. Ironically I worked in PI where all six inmates worked that killed my grandfather. To my knowledge his is the only person to lose his life in the line of duty at SCDC. He is honored at the Criminal Justice Hame Of Fame in Columbia SC. May his name and deeds always be respected by those who protect us today. No matter what race, creed or background.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 74th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace.

It is among the peacekeepers and protectors that my Great Grandfather lived his life. He paid the ultimate price in his service to others. My son is now serving in the military as a protector. I can only hope that my son's service to the people of the United States will be known by our ancestors and that my Great Grandfather can shine a light to bring him home safely.

I love you Granddad. I love you son.

On today, the 70th anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of South Carolina. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer.
