Just ran a cross this and it is scary. I remember Clemente being killed although I was just four years old and my parents took me to the festival. It was across the street from the new government center towards the railroad tracks.e Our house was across the railroad track. Anybody verify this for me??? Strange

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 63rd anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I was just a kid when this happened. I remember my folks had taken us to a dance and there was a big fight outside and I remember the people said a peace officer had been killed. It is just unbelieveable that almost forty five years later I see this memorial to Clemente Salazar. It is nice to know he is not forgotten, nor the sacrifice he gave to the citizens of Bernalillio.
