The past 60 years have been lonely without you dad. You missed your two sons weddings to two beautiful women. You missed your three grand children and four great grandchildren and all of us have missed you and your kindness and wit. You missed growing old with your widow who never remarried even with two young boys to raise. She now lays beside you for the rest of eternity. You missed the passing of your brother and a sister but still have one sister left who tells tales of your youth. One son followed you as a deputy sheriff and then a fire chief of forty years with his brother David at his side as his deputy chief. David lives in the house that you and your bride built with your own hands and I live next door in a home that we built with our own hands. I think you would be as proud of us as we have always been of you.

I was 10 years old when Officer Ross passed away. He was my first cousin. My father was from Owls Head Maine where officer Ross lived. We went to Maine for vacation every year from New York. The night the accident happened Franks mother came to our house to tell my father what had happened. I was upstairs in bed but heard my aunt Evelyn, Frank's mother, tell my parents what happened. I was shocked and scared. My cousin Paul, Frank's brother, replaced him in the Sheriffs department for a number of years. In 1977 I became a police officer in the Nassau County New York Police Department. I was there for 35 years and often thought about my cousin and the sacrifice he made.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 54th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I was six when you left us, I still remember you. The best thing you ever did was chosing our mother, Ida Carolyn Keefer in the Army in 1952. She kept your memory fresh and your family alive in our lives. She raised both of us so that you would have been proud.

After your death your brother Paul took your place. Later I took it for 8 years as Knox County Deputy Sheriffs.

Your son David was the Assistant Fire Chief for your home town for 20 years and I have been its fire chief for 32 years.

We have always missed you!
