Reflections for Sergeant Richard Grijalva Romero

I REMEMBER THE MORNING MY AUNT MARY LOU CALLED MY MOM AND TOLD HER ABOUT YOUR PASSING. IT'S NEWS THAT NO ONE EVER WANTS TO HEAR. AS THE YEARS PASSED I REMEMBER TALKING WITH RICK ABOUT BECOMING A COP AND I SEE HIM AND CAROLYN NOW, AND I SEE HOW THEY HAVE FOLLOWED IN YOUR FOOT STEPS. I KNOW YOU AS WELL AS THEY DO, THAT YOU ARE PROUD OF THEM BOTH. REST IN PEACE.

DEPUTY R.ESCAMILLA
LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT

Richard,
We worked together, laughed together, and we both died a little on that October night. I am proud that you and I were friends and I always considered your friendship an honor. I think of you each day. You are missed, hermano, you are missed.

Michael Hackett, Assistant Sheriff (Ret)
Imperial County Sheriff's Office
