Reflections for Corporal Kevin Weadock Barleycorn

May the good Lord assuage the anguish of this, your most outrageous fortune. On behalf of a grateful nation, a sober law enforcement community, and a saddened neighborhood; we pray that our heavily father takes Kevin’s soul into his loving hands. Only you, the family of our fallen brother, fully understand the sacrifice that has been placed upon the alter of freedom. May he rest in piece knowing that his efforts shall not be forgotten, and that we have his watch from here.

I just wanted to make note of the 16th anniversary of your tragic death. The death of any Police Officer is tragic in so many ways, but when it's accidental and at the hand of a brother or sister, there's a special sadness felt for both the officer who is hit and the officer who fired the shot. Both are truly victims and deserve our prayers.

God Bless you Corporal Barleycorn, you are not forgotten. Rest in Peace, Brother.

Cpl. Barleycorn, I hope that the person who caused this tragic event, and I mean the kid with the gun at the party, has visited this memorial page to see the pain he caused and remember that he took you away from your family, your WHOLE family.

You're covering another beat now with luck, it's a nice cushy one.

To the officer who accidently fired the fatal shot, God's looking out for you too. What happened was a tragic accident that wasn't your fault.

God Bless Cpl. Barleycorn and those he left behind.

God bless you and your family. It is always tragic when an officer dies at the hands of another officer, but we know this was an accident and we will always support both officers.

Kevin,
It's been many years since that night you left us, but I still remember the last conversation we had that night before you went back out on patrol, we were talking about the Gulf war then. Your humor was always in great supply whenever you came by commo, never did I see you without a smile then.
Thank you for making work more tolerable back then at the old trailer we called an office.
Your memory still lives on with me now that I'm wearing a badge and many of us have gone our separate ways since, but you're still endeared to us always.
