Ira was Robert Raney's brother (Robert was my Grand -father on mother's side) I served as an MP in US Army with plans on following my grand-uncle. It was not to be. But, Ira, know that you were my hero!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 93rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I live in Northern California and last year our Bay Area was rocked by the murder of four officers from Oakland PD.
I was unaware of this bloody day in the history of your department. These killings must have devastated your department and community, and of course, your family. I am sure you are proud that your family continues your legacy of protecting and serving.

Rest In Peace.
