Uncle Johnny it's so hard to believe that you were called home 48 years ago. You were taken from your family and friends way to early. You were a very loving caring man not just to your family but friends as well. Even though I was a young child I can remember it like it was yesterday, you would come by the house and if I was outside it tickled you to scare me with the siren then afterwards you would come back to the house and hug me and tell me love ya punk. You taught us all how to be respectful and caring. I know you are happy having your Dad, your brother Larry and both your precious sister's Joan and Shirley with you. I miss and love you all very much. Looking forward to the day we will all be together again.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 44th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Johnny: I was a child when you and Officer Burnette were taken from us. Everyone I saw wore a look of shock. I remember the tears, the grief stricken faces of those who attended the service.

Now your brother Larry has joined you. I can only imagine the joy on your faces when you were reunited not so long ago.

You are loved and missed by your family and friends.

To all who have remembered,
Thank you so much for your thoughts in regard to my fathers memory.Every word is as if he lives still today,a brief transending feeling of his presence. He is still missed so very much, and to know he was respected and loved by so many others means so much. Officer George clifford Burnette III, was taken the day befor, and will be respectfully remembered, along w/ my father, as the two who gave thier lives in July 1966 to protect us all in Georgia.
Respectful thanks,
Daughter,

Officer Puckett,
On today, the 40th anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of DeKalb County. I think it's a travesty of justice that your murderer only spent ten years in a mental hospital.

I worked with Johnny on the morning watch back in 1963-64. Johnny & I grew up together from childhood & were as close as brothers. Knew the entire Puckett family from the early 50's. He was a highly respected & quite effective Police Officer. His untimely death was such a shock to the entire department as well as to his family. I still have many great memories of the time we spent working together.

I read through as many of the "old" postings as I have the time for and especially when there is a reflection that has been left...as they tell a little bit more about that person. I am always wishing that family members would leave a posting for the older ones, as I am curious about their lives all these years later. It was very heartwarming to ready the posting left by Officer Puckett's, now grown, daughter. Thank-you. I have a daughter, who was four when her father died eight years ago, and I struggle with how much this has and will affect her as she grows. To Officer Puckett's children, I know your life was never the same after your father died, thank-you for sharing.

It is 6/15/2003, and the pain of loosing my father has never left. A wonderful decent loving father was ripped from our lives, but the influence he left behind with me has always led me to live my life with honer and compasion for myself and all of humanity. He instilled so much love and kindness for all, in the three children he left behind. I will always live and love by his example.
In loving memory,
Melanie

In July 1966 I was having fun duing the summer & thinking about the upcoming senior year I was to take on in high School. I always wanted to be a police officer since I saw the first flashing red lights on a police car. I grauated from HS in 1967, went to Vietnam and served two years in the war. I was lucky and returned to be hired by Former KCPD Chief Clarence M. Kelley who was also later appointed Director Of The FBI by the President of the United States. I don't understand why I could go through two years in Vietnam, serve 26 years with the Kansas City Missouri Police Department and Live On. It isn't fair.
I am so sorry about what happened to Officer Puckett Sr. I wish I had of known what had happened to him in 1966. To any and all of Officer Puckett's Family and children, I now know I lost a Brother Officer in 1966 and I wish and hope I can meet him later when I'm gone.
