Darlington Journal Newspaper, Jan. 6, 1899: "J.L. (name redacted), wanted at Fond Du Lac for the murder of a policeman, was captured in Darlington by [Marshal] Frank Moran and held for identification by the officials from the above named city. Some pick up."

As fate would have it, Marshal Moran was also killed in the line of duty in 1927.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 111th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
