Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff John Allen Pegram

I always remember the sadness that Halloween brought to my grandmother, your daughter Sadie, as she recalled your death. A little more than a month later on December 1, 1929 your devoted wife Rebecca with her broken heart would pass away. The end of 1929 brought much sorrow to your family, changing everyone. Rest In Peace Deputy Pegram

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 80th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

Cousin John, I discovered this past May 2006 while in Washington,DC at the National Police Officers Memorial that someone with the same last name as myself was killed in the line of duty. Our last name is not that common outside of North Carolina. Curious, when I got home, I did some research and learned that you are an older cousin of my grandfather. I have thought about you everyday since. Thank you for everything you have done in law enforcement protecting our family in the Reidsville,NC area. I love you so much. I will never forget you. God bless you and rest in peace.
