Sergeant Overdahl's son, Peter Savage Overdahl, continued in his father's footsteps, serving as an Air Policeman in the USAF for four years, and then had a long and distinguished career with the Washington State Patrol. After his retirement from then WSP he settled in his hometown of Richland, Washinton. He died of heart failure on April 30, 2013.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 55th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never dimishes respect and you will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
