Chief Oliver,
On today, the 86th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you to you and your fellow Officers who were also killed in that incident for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Springfield. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 80th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect, not even 80 years. I am sure that you are proud that your family continued your legacy of protecting and serving.

Rest In Peace

Each day I try to read the ODMP. Today I read your story. Any officer who dies in the line of duty will always be remembered for his sacrifice. You died a hero. Rest in peace Detective Oliver.

This was my great grandfather. I never knew him accept by the stories of this dreadful day, which was told to me by my dad. We have a history of law enforcement in my family. My dad was a deputy sheriff, my grandfather was a deputy sheriff, my great grandfather was who you are reading about, and since 1991, I have been involved in law enforcement in different roles. This was a terrible day in law enforcement and will never be forgotten. For those of you that may read this, I thank you for spending your time on my grandfathers page. He was a hero back in his time and I will never forget his story.

God Bless!!!!!!!!!
