Reflections for Officer Fred E. Nunnally

I was never able to meet our grandfather due to his untimely passing. I have been told stories of his bravery and kindheartedness. I hope that I can one day meet him and that he watching over me and my family know from above. I only hope that my actions honor him and his memories. May he rest in peace and know that even though my family and i never got to know him that he is loved very much and his memory is carried forth in our hearts.

Last night was the 60th anniversary of the passing of my dad. I was only 3 years old when a drunk driver caused the motorcycle accident that took him from us. His badge number was 115. He had also served as a Marine in the South Pacific during World War II.

I have a few precious memories of him. He was a tall, handsome man with dark hair and blue eyes, and is said to have been quite charming.

He has been greatly missed by those who loved him. He was survived by 3 children, my mother, his parents, and his siblings.

God bless him and all who have fallen in the line of duty. We cannot forget their sacrifice and that of their families. We must honor our men in blue.

I didn't know my grandpa Nunnally. He died in the line of duty when my dad was just a kid. But from all the stories he is still a hero!! At least we have pictures of him. One hell of a motor jock!!!

I never met my Uncle Fred. I came to know him through the stories my mother told me. He was her favorite brother, she loved him and was very proud of his service to his country and the city of Atlanta.
