Detective Alick Herrmann died from illnesses he contracted from inhaling toxic materials as he participated in the rescue and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center site following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
Detective Herrmann had served with the New York City Police Department for 20 years and was assigned to the 100 Precinct Detective Squad. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
