This was my cousin and the reason I first discovered ODMP, I made my contribution in his memory and with it the memory of all officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice . Today I landed again on this site this ti,e by accident ,I opened the link I was reminded of the faded little stickers on my jeep's windshield and rear window sent to me years ago . So I guess it's way past time I donate because my stickers are really looking pretty rough . I've always held high respect for those behind a badge even if I've made a few bad choices in my younger days ,always gave respect and with that I got respect ,today's world is so different and I just don't get it ,if only the public understood what cop has to go through each day. Most of those he or she deals on calls will lie to their faces to get out of a jay walking ticket and that's the least of a cops worries , I'm AMAZED THAT 99.9% OF OFFICERS ARE AS respectful to the public as they are . My Dad Edgar Gongre was Chief of Police at this tiny town where Bobby was Deputy from 1974 -78 and my uncle Earl Gongre was chief there for many years .Bobby was deputy . Another note is that Bobby Thompson was also a tug boat captain on the Mississippi River on the day and at the moment of Bobby's funeral It was said that most ,if not all tug boat traffic on the river in the Louisiana /Mississippi area slowed to dead stop for a minute or two in Bobby 's memory .I'd like to request an email from your site so I can make another donation ,I do not have my wallet with me at this writing .Rest in Peace Bobby , Edgar and Earl
