George W. Myers

Captain George Myers was shot and killed while responding to a complaint of two men on motorcycles chasing a woman. When he arrived at the scene he stopped one of the men who shot him four times when he attempted to arrest him. Captain Myers managed to return fire, wounding the suspect, and took him into custody with the help of two police officers arriving on the scene. Captain Myers was transported to a local hospital where he died minutes later.

The suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life. On March 25, 1986, his conviction was overturned.

Captain Myers had served with the agency for 19 years. He was survived by his wife and three children.
