All my life I heard family lore that we had a relative named Ben "Macheney" who had been killed in the line of duty in San Fernando Valley, on a call to a domestic dispute. I never had the internet to research this, and when my only known living relative, my uncle, recently passed away, the story went with him. I was so surprised when I was looking through my Ancestry DNA matches to find someone with a public tree that showed Officer Benjamin MUSHANEY, killed in the line of duty. It makes me so sad, not only for his loss, but that my father and my uncle never got to learn that the story about their own cousin was indeed, true. My family tree now proudly includes the Mushaney name, spelled correctly, and with many new additions of distant cousins living in my own backyard. RIP Cousin Mushaney. I hope to meet your descendants, if any remain in So Cal.
