Patrolman Felix Murphy was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic on an icy road at an accident scene on New Deal Highway in Lubbock.

Patrolman Murphy had served with the Texas Highway Patrol for 18 months. He was survived by his wife and young child.
