William Thomas Mull

Chief Mull was accidentally shot and killed while assisting in the search of a rape suspect near the Georgia - Tennessee border. The suspect was located in a deep gully and taken into custody. As one of the officers climbed out of the gully his weapon fell to the ground and discharged. The round struck Chief Mull, causing a fatal wound.

Chief Mull, it's heartbreaking that you were denied retirement due to an accident, though regardless of the reason, it's a sad tragedy for all who knew and loved you best, and of course the Officer who's firearm discharged. No doubt he lived with a heavy heart for the rest of his life.

On this 66th anniversary of that awful event, I just want to say that you have NOT been forgotten. May you continue to Rest in Peace and God Bless, Brother.
