Officer Carlos Sepulveda-Caraballo was shot and killed by a youth as he returned from a tour of duty.
Officer Sepulveda-Caraballo was walking with friends in Old San Juan; at the corner of San Jose Street and San Sebastian Street, two men approached the group and started a heated discussion. The officer intervened but one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the officer in the chest. Before succumbing to his injuries he shot and killed the shooter. Officer Sepulveda-Caraballo died in the Rio Piedras Medical Center two hours later.
Officer Sepulveda-Caraballo work with the Puerto Rico Police Department for two and a half years, and is survived by his wife and daughter.
