My father is 80 this year. He was a FBI agent in Savannah from 1967-1968. At lunch today he told me a story about how he helped a detective's wife collect a federal pension upon his friend being killed in the line of duty. My dad and this detective were of the same age roughly. My dad remembered that they both were married and had kids. My dad was also a lawyer and this federal pension benefit to local law enforcement killed during a federal crime became law in 1968. Dad made sure this detective's family got it. Apparently the car was stolen from NY and being sold in GA.
My dad was 32 years old at the time. My dad had fond memories of working with the detective. I'd like to know if this detective is the family my father helped. The circumstances of this detective's death are the same.
