View all 6 ReflectionsI was the elected Sheriff of Johnson County 1994 thru 1998. I well remember Sheriff Meek being K.I.A., I was 11 years old . My father and I was walking up the street coming from the old post office. A man came running down the street saying the Sheriff had just been shot. It was cloudy day with light rain. I knew him well, he had been my barber. I was Sheriff Gene Cyrus chief deputy, and was present when he was murdered in 1992, March 18th. I have a deep connection with both incidents. I served 20 years in law enforcement. Both men were hero's.
