Officer Frank Medeiros was killed in a motorcycle crash while he and another officer pursued a vehicle on Lunalilo Freeway.

He struck a utility pole after swerving to avoid another car that switched lanes in front of him at Piikoi Street.

Officer Medeiros was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

To my 2nd Cousin Uncle Frank R Medeiros- No I never met you because I wasn't born yet, My my mom was your first cousin Colleen, Before her was Carol and George, then Patie, Alex, Maureen and Georgia. My grandpa which was your Uncle was also HPD Motor cycle Officer George L Medeiros Sr. My grandpa was a heavy weight fighter as well, He survived a horrible accident when my my mom was a child chasing someone on the old Pali Rd. He refused to let go and survived this which no one comprehends! Thank you for your service and I am sorry I never got to know you! My moms first husband was also a motor cycle Officer Mellvile Vida. So yes the HPD motor cycle officers mean alot to me and I am proud to be a part of your Ohana! Moms there with you and I hope you all have a wonderful time! Aloha wau i'a oe Leah- Oh and I would never refer to him as Frank it would be my uncle because of his age and we growing up in Hawaii refer to our parents cousins as Uncle and aunty! Its a sign of respect and thats what we do!
