William L. Meadows

Night Marshal William Meadows was shot and killed while investigating a burglary in progress at the town's locker plant.

At approximately 2:00 am a noise disturbance was called in at the locker plant. Officer Meadows responded and arrived at the plant with the owner and his son. As Officer Meadows entered the building through the front door he surprised the burglars and was fatally shot through the heart.

The suspects fled the scene and were never apprehended.

I read about Night Marshal Meadows' death for the first time today. He was a good man, a boy scout troop leader who liked to tell the local children about his job; the job he was proud of and lost his life doing. Though justice hasn't been served, William Meadows' life & sacrifice won't be forgotten.
