Levy McQuietor, Jr.

Officer Levy McQuietor succumbed to burns sustained 26 days earlier when he was engulfed by flames.

He was assigned to clean the shower stalls inside the Dallas Police Department Community Service Center in the 4400 block of Vandervort Drive. and used a flammable liquid to do the cleaning. The liquid ignited from a pilot light, causing burns on over 80% of his body. He was transported to Parkland Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officer McQuietor was a United States Army veteran and had served with the Dallas Police Department for four years. He was survived by his wife and daughter.

On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
