Samuel C. Marquardt

Lieutenant Marquardt was struck and killed by a train while conducting a training exercise on Seven Mile Road near Mt. Elliott Street.

He and ten other officers were conducting training exercises with new department motorcycles when the accident occurred.

Lieutenant Marquardt served with the Detroit Police Department for less than eight years. He was the nephew of Police Superindentent Ernest Marquardt.
