Keith Stephen Konopasek

Officer Keith Konopasek was shot and killed while detaining a suspect during a traffic stop on the 1700 block of 82nd Avenue.

An unrelated man fired one shot which struck him. He died two hours later at a local hospital.

The shooter was charged with murder of a police officer with a firearm but was acquitted after claiming his rifle unintentionally discharged when he slipped inside of his home.

Officer Konopasek had served with the Oakland Police Department for only six months. He is survived by his fiancée, parents, and two sisters.

Father God, You are always faithful and quick to show mercy. Our Brother-In-Blue, Officer Keith Stephen Konopasek, of the Oakland CA Police Department was suddenly and violently taken from us; Shot & Killed in the Line-of-Duty. Come swiftly to his aid, have mercy on him, and comfort his family, friends, and comrades by the power and protection of the Cross. I ask this through the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and by His Authority, I pray. Amen.
