Bobby L. Wells, Jr.

Trooper Wells was killed when he was struck by a vehicle after stopping a traffic violator on I-55 near Hernando. No charges were filed against the driver who struck him.

Trooper Wells had served with the agency for just over 18 months. He was survived by his parents and sister.

A section of I-55, at mile marker 277, was dedicated in Trooper Wells' memory.

Two or three times a year I put flowers on a relative's tombstone in Ackerman, and saw the tombstone for Trooper Wells, and wondered about the story behind he death. When I got home to Columbus I did a search for Trooper Wells on the Internet and found the details about his death. We do not appreciate the sacrifices law enforcement personnel make so many times. The next time I go to Ackermen, I will put flowers on this Troopers monument....
