Officer Stanley Lutke was shot and fatally wounded during an armed robbery.
Officer Lutke, while on foot patrol, observed a disturbance in a store. As he ran to investigate, an armed robber emerged from the store and began firing his weapon at Officer Lutke. A gun battle ensued. When Officer Lutke pursued the offender, a second offender emerged and fired at the officer. Officer Lutke was struck and died as a result of his injuries. His killers remain at large.
Officer Lutke was survived by his wife and four children, the youngest who was three.
