Detective Lonnie Miller was shot and killed while assisting another officer with a burglary call. Detective Miller was approached by a suspect who attempted to rob him and then shot him.
Detective Miller had served with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for 26 years. He is survived by his wife, four sons, and a daughter.
The Lonnie C Miller Sr. Regional Park in Jacksonville was named in his honor.
