Dewey L. Littleton

Detective Dewey L. Littleton was accidentally shot and killed by a fellow officer during an arrest of a shooting suspect at 3247 Wentworth Avenue.

Detective Littleton responded to a call to arrest an offender who was wanted for shooting his wife. As Detective Littleton and fellow officers ascended the staircase, the offender opened fire. In the exchanges of gunfire between the police and the gunman, Detective Littleton was struck and mortally wounded by a shotgun blast by a fellow officer.

Detective Littleton had served with the Chicago Police Department for 12 years. He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
