Police Officer John Larson was killed in a traffic collision when his patrol car collided with a fire department van at Grand and Snelling Avenues while responding to an emergency call at 11:30 p.m.
Officer Larson, who was the passenger in the patrol vehicle, succumbed to head injuries at St. Paul-Ramsey Hospital at 12:35 a.m. His partner and four firemen were not injured.
Officer Larson was a United States Air Force veteran and had served with the St. Paul Police Department for six years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
