I found this page after searching for Marshal Larsen's story after hearing his tribute in Dragnet episode 7. I listen to Dragnet all the time but this is the first time I ever looked up the officer mentioned at the end of every episode. To be honest I sort of wanted to find out whether those tributes were for real men or just names written for the show. I should have known they were real, given Jack Webb's dedication to law enforcement and realism.

But now I'm glad I've never looked up more of the officers on the tributes because having read more about this story has me crying just thinking about all the tragedies that befall the ones who try to protect their communities.

May the Larsen family be always proud of him, as am I, for doing a job that became deadly that day. And may every officer who reads this know that I thank you all especially at this awful time we are living in right now. My heart aches.
