Add to My HeroesOwen A. Landdeck
Lieutenant Landdeck was accidentally shot and killed in a police academy training exercise. Lieutenant Landdeck was playing the role of a deranged husband in a mock domestic violence call. The scenario called for Lieutenant Landdeck to draw a gun at one point and a Cadet would return fire. Inadvertently the cadet's gun was loaded with live ammunition instead of blanks and when the cadet fired his weapon he killed Lieutenant Landdeck.
Lieutenant Landdeck had been with the Farmington Police Department for 10 years and in law enforcement for 20 years. He was survived by his wife, daughter, and son.

View all 20 ReflectionsHey Lt., Today I stopped by here to just reflect on my friends lost to the job. I'm in NY now, (Don't ask) and am working on a new project that involves local Peer Support, C.O.P.S. and our Veterans Chaplin support group. Been retired now 12 years from Fort Worth Texas PD, but you're on my mind often. Training with you as your rookie was tough and it's kept me safe for a very long time. Working with you on the development of the Academy was something that I am proud of. Proud that you thought enough of me to ask for input.
So I embark on this new venture in honor of you as a Veteran and Police Officer.
God Bless Brother.
