Kenneth John Koeller, Jr.

Sergeant Koeller was shot and killed after surprising a group of burglars at a local business. While he was detaining two of the suspects a third suspect came up from behind and started to struggle with Sergeant Koeller. During the struggle the suspect shot him in the neck, before all three fled the scene.

A fingerprint lifted from the scene produced a suspect in Ohio three years later but he was not convicted. The shooter was arrested in Illinois, confessed to the murder, and sentenced to two life sentences.

Dear Ken, We were not long married those many years ago, but you are always here with me ever since I lost you. I see you still in your pictures that I glance at daily, I see you in all the work that you've done around our house, and I see you when the officers of St. Louis County patrol our streets here in Jennings. I see you in our old Police friends when they stop to chat and still talk about you to me. But most of all I see you in my heart-for there you live with me, talk, laugh, and cry to me, and guide me through my years.
My tears fall like rivers as I write this because our love was so real and bonding that no one could ever take your place; you were and will always be " My Kenny". I love you baby 'til the day I die. Wait for me and we'll cruise to the places that we had always called 'ours' and enjoy our love forever.
