Add to My HeroesFred Feuser, Jr.
Reserve Deputy Fred Feuser was shot and killed after confronting two teenagers breaking into a storage building in the village of Four Seasons.
The two teenagers had stolen a 27-foot speed boat and rammed it into the dock at the Lodge of the Four Seasons. They then began breaking into a storage building when they were stopped by an off-duty security guard. The guard called Reserve Deputy Feuser who responded to the scene.
While they were waiting for two additional security guards to arrive one of the teenagers fatally shot them both with a .22 caliber handgun. The two fled to a nearby home where they were arrested.
Reserve Deputy Feuser was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife and four children.

View all 22 ReflectionsI didn’t get to know Fred very well met him a couple of times. I was very close to Bill. The day they were taken from us I will never forget. My heart still breaks wishing it was all a nightmare we could wake up from. It might be 28 years age, but this year was so hard. It was what I call a “mirror year” where the days were the same. So Friday December 2 1994 was also a Friday this year — that date Bill and I talked for a long time about our futures. Wednesday December 7, 1994 was one of the hardest days of my life. It is a true miracle I made it through the night as I was 17 and felt my life had ended. I drove 120+ miles an hour on roads that were curve and I should have never made it out alive. The only reason I wasn’t pulled over was every officer in the area was involved in the manhunt. I will never understand why God took two good ones and left the bad ones to live a full life. But what I do know is God had other plans for me even when all I wanted was to join Bill that night and months to follow.
Bill and Fred,
I now have a son (turning 26 tomorrow) he has three daughters (7, 5, and 2) of his own and has a wonderful girlfriend — a daughter (turned 16 today) — and another son (11) — they are my world.
I stayed in an abusive marriage for over 25 years because of not trusting police officers thanks to the bad ones back then. Bill you knew so much of what was happening and was trying to help me. Needless to say, it just got worse after you were killed, but I will never forget the things you did to try to keep me safe. I love and miss you so much.
