David Michael Healy

Officer Healy was killed in an automobile accident while en route to the South Central Patrol Station. He had just dropped off a prisoner at the Southeast Jail and was driving on the South Freeway when he swerved to avoid an accident in the roadway. His vehicle struck a highway sign at the MacGregor overpass.

Officer Healy was a U.S Army veteran and had been with the Houston Police Department for two years.

He was a great guy, always in a good mood and fun to work or hang out with. Always as busy as any two average officers. We were only in our first year after probation, Class 153. At least I was able to talk to his family at the viewing; I hope some of the stories about your Academy days and time on patrol helped them.
