Patrolman John Jasper was killed in a vehicle crash during a vehicle pursuit.
He was pursuing the vehicle southbound on Pulaski Road when his patrol car was struck by a westbound vehicle at W. 83rd Street and S. Pulaski Road. His patrol car swerved into a utility pole and burst into flames.
Patrolman Jasper was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He had served with the Chicago Police Department for 10 years and was assigned to the 8th District. He was survived by his wife and four children.
