Steven Arthur Jarvis

Patrolman Steven Jarvis was killed when his patrol car was struck by a tractor-trailer on I-55, near the Meramec River.

He was assisting at the scene of a previous accident and had just finished assisting one of the drivers load debris back into the driver's truck. He had returned to his patrol car when it was struck from behind.

Patrolman Jarvis had served with the Arnold Police Department for one year and had previously served with the University of Missouri at St. Louis Police Department. He was survived by his wife and two children.

Steve is my cousin. He is really the only cousin that was ever close to our family. He would often visit and bring a smile to the face of the six kids that had lost their Daddy, Steve's uncle. He looked a lot like my Dad, and that brought me comfort.

He was a kind and sweet man and I am proud to call him family.
