Anthony Frank Janowski

Sergeant Anthony F. Janowski was killed when his patrol car was struck by a drunk driver while he was en route to Illinois Masonic Hospital to investigate a fatal traffic crash.

The driver of the vehicle that struck him was charged with reckless homicide and other traffic charges.

An off-duty paramedic who lived nearby started CPR on Sergeant Janowski, who passed away after being transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital.

Sergeant Janowski was a 29-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department and was assigned to Bureau of Operational Services - Traffic Division Unit 086 - Traffic Area 6 Group. He was survived by his wife and daughter.
